Regenerative Agriculture: Our vision at Las Huertas Farms

At Las Huertas Saladita, we’re not just building a neighborhood—we’re planting the seeds for something deeper.

Our vision is to create a community that restores the land it lives on. Through regenerative agriculture, we’re designing a system where nature thrives, food is grown with care, and every resident becomes part of a healthier ecosystem.

We’re still at the beginning of this journey. But the path is clear.

What Is Regenerative Agriculture?

Regenerative agriculture is about working with nature—not against it. Unlike conventional farming, which often depletes the land, regenerative practices aim to improve the soil, restore biodiversity, and increase resilience over time.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about intention, observation, and cycles that give more than they take.

Here’s how we’re beginning to apply these principles in Las Huertas Farm:

1. Keeping the Soil Covered

Soil is a living system, and it needs protection. When left exposed, it dries out, erodes, and loses life. Our plan is to keep the soil covered year-round with living plants, native grasses, and organic mulch. This cover protects water, feeds underground life, and stabilizes the microclimate.

Even during off-seasons, we’ll use cover crops to ensure the soil is always active and supported.

2. Growing a Variety of Crops

Monocultures are fragile. At Las Huertas Farms, we’re committed to biodiversity above and below ground.

We’ll grow a mix of fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, and native plants that work together to improve soil health, attract pollinators, and create food security without chemical inputs.

We’re designing gardens and orchards that mimic natural ecosystems—each plant playing its part in a living network.

3. Minimizing Soil Disturbance

Tilling the soil might seem efficient, but it destroys microbial life, breaks soil structure, and releases carbon into the air. That’s why we’re applying no-till and low-till practices—to protect the underground ecosystems that are essential to healthy, fertile land.

We'll build our growing systems layer by layer, allowing soil life to develop naturally.

4. Keeping Roots in the Soil Year-Round

Living roots feed the microbes, fungi, and bacteria that make healthy soil possible. Even when we’re not harvesting food, we plan to keep plants growing—cover crops, groundcovers, and perennial species that support nutrient cycles, improve water infiltration, and prevent erosion.

This is about more than farming—it's about keeping the land alive.

5. Integrating Animals into the System

Animals are part of natural ecosystems—and they’re part of our plan too. We’ll be using rotational grazing with chickens and small livestock to fertilize the soil, improve plant growth, and help close the nutrient loop.

This also ties into our vision for farming glamping—a way for people to connect with the land while participating in the cycle of regeneration.

This Is the Vision, And You Can Be Part of It.

Las Huertas is in an early phase. Some things are still being planted. Others are still being designed. But the foundation is clear:
We’re not here to extract from the land. We’re here to regenerate it.

Every lot sold, every home built, every tree planted adds energy to this ecosystem we’re creating together.

Whether you’re an investor seeking long-term impact, a couple looking to live differently, or someone who simply believes in restoring what matters—this is your invitation.
